Month 2 {music, Scottish Rite, and cooing}

{2 months old}
Month 2 we started to get little glimpses of Miles's personality! He went from 12 lbs 6 oz to 13 lbs 11oz (70%) and 24.5 (95%) inches long. He loved to snuggle all the time. Started loving the bath. Became fascinated by lights. He wanted to stand all the time (still does!). He started mimicking us when we would coo at him! And just like his mom and dad he loved his sleep and started sleeping through the night!

 {MILEStones} He was more active then ever. When he was in my tummy he loved to move when I listened to music. There were often times that I would have to turn on chill music just to spare my rib cage from major damage from on the dancing around in there. It was now apparent that this kid loved music. After bath time each night he would kick around and smile to the music. It was beyond hysterical.

{Scottish Rite visit}
This month we went to our first visit at Scottish Rite Hospital. Going into our visit we were told that Miles had Amniotic Band Syndrome. Basically meaning that early on in my pregnancy a band in the amniotic sack came loose and attached itself to Miles's arm. I promise you this was a hard pill to swallow. Now matter how many times I tried not to blame myself I couldn't help but feel guilty that my body was the cause. The best news we received at our visit to Scottish Rite is that my body did nothing wrong and more importantly Miles was never in any pain. He was diagnosed with Symbrachudactyly. Good luck saying that 5 times fast. Basically when Miles was the size of a little peanut his arms and legs started to develop and for some unknown reason his left arm basically ran out of material to finish. He had all of his reflexes checked and everything came back to show that besides missing his left hand our precious baby was perfectly healthy! We are so lucky in many ways. If we already didn't feel blessed by our cute little boy, sitting in that hospital waiting room sure did the trick. Our boy was born without a left hand- that was nothing in comparison to the kids that were sitting around us. We look forward to meeting kids just like Miles and getting to seek advice and wisdom from other families in our situation.
