Month 5 {steps,sorta sitting, in the mouth}

Each month goes faster and each month I am blown away with how fast he is growing. Miles went from weighing 16 lbs 2 oz (58%) and is 26 inches long (70%) to now 17 lbs 2 oz. Each day he grows bigger and stronger. This past month started off with Miles's first trip to visit me at camp. He was loved on by hundreds of preteen kids. He was like a little celebrity :) We also had my cousin Crissy come to visit for a few days. He got his first "ouch" report from childcare because someone bit him. All in all it was a fun, yet hot month. Hoping it will start cooling off soon so we can spend some more time outside. Although, this kid doesn't seem to mind the heat when he is lounging in his pool!

It is crazy how much this little boy has taught me about loving others and celebrating everyone's differences. I continue to be amazing by him every single day. He truly has a love and joy for life.

{Jim Abbott}
Jim is a former MLB pitcher. This past month I was able to get in contact with his agent. I sent her a letter for Jim basically just thanking him for being a good influence and role model for my son to look up to. You see, Jim was also born missing a hand. However, that never stopped him from living out his dreams and even throwing a no hitter! Jim read our letter and asked for our address because he wanted to send a few things to Miles. Just a few days ago we received some items from Jim. Not only did we get a signed thing for his book, but also two baseball cards (including a rookie card) and he wrote the sweetest letter to Miles. He wrote him words of encouragement that would make any normal person tear up. He even signed it, "Your fan, Jim Abbott". He also told Stuart and I to keep him posted :) We were blown away by his kindness. I am so thankful that good guys like that still exist.

{MILEStones}
This month was a crazy one. He has grown so much! Here are just a few of the things that happened this month.
-He loves bananas, sweet potatoes, peas, and apples. Still trying to decide if he likes green beans or not.
-He sits on his own for a few seconds at a time. It is only a matter of a few days before he is on his own!
-He loves listening to his dad read bedtime stories.
-He is fascinated by our dog and (when the dog lets him) will pet her. It is just about the sweetest thing.
-For some reason whistling is mesmerizing.
-This month he became way more active with his arms, hand, and feet. He learned to throw, kick a ball, and likes to take steps!
-He grabs his feet every chance he gets.
-Now holds the bottle by himself.
-He loves his new bouncer and playing with all the toys.
-Everything within arms length goes in the month. every.thing.
